Use color to create a comfortable home atmosphere
Like interior design and furnishings, home colors play a vital role in shaping a space and reflect the homeowner's personality and taste.
Color and psychological response are linked. White can make a room feel bigger and more spacious, but if a space lacks color, such as being "blank" or "all white," it may increase the likelihood of distraction for most people because the lack of detail makes it harder to focus.
If you're tired of white walls, why not choose one wall in your home and paint it a contrasting color? For example...greenIn color psychology, green, which symbolizes nature, can bring feelings of "harmony, freshness, tranquility, and soothing," and has a high healing power.
Large areas such as walls are painted in a low-saturation matcha green to avoid visual fatigue; small accessories in bright colors are used as accents, such as a lake-green teapot, gold doorknobs and picture frames, which add eye-catching details and enhance the charming atmosphere.
The golden ratio for interior color schemes is 6:3:1
The golden ratio of "6:3:1" in color theory has a very wide range of applications, including painting, everyday clothing, and interior design. Generally speaking, selecting three interior colors and matching them according to the golden ratio can basically ensure that you won't go wrong.
If you are a trained designer or have a high sensitivity to color, you can still create a harmonious and comfortable space even without following the two general rules of the golden ratio!
The golden ratio of color is as follows:
- 60% background color (base color) is used to create the foundation of the space → ceiling/floor/walls
- 30% of the complementary color (main color) determines the overall style of the space → curtains/carpets/feature walls/furniture, such as sofas, modular cabinets, etc.
- 10% accent color (emphasis) to grab attention and add depth → Floral arrangements/decorative items/cushions
In a background color scheme, it's recommended that the floor color be darker than the ceiling to avoid a top-heavy feel. The complementary color determines the overall style and impression of the space; it must coordinate and be compatible with the base color for a comfortable overall effect.
Accent colors are recommended to be scattered throughout the interior space, as they are very eye-catching and will look out of place if they only appear in one place. Repeated appearances in different locations will help them blend into the overall space.
Fresh and warm matcha green living space
The refreshing matcha green color is incredibly soothing, and the furniture is primarily made of wood, making the home feel like a meadow or grove of trees. Wooden Venetian blinds are placed by the windows, and hard bamboo was specially selected, with the natural bamboo grain pattern that looks natural and elegant up close.
The dining table and lampshade, with their rounded contours, soften the sharp lines and angles of the space, creating a more gentle and soothing feel. Wood, bamboo, and greenery intertwine to cultivate a harmonious and comfortable living space.
