Most people are familiar with wallpaper. With its ever-changing patterns, wallpaper is a great way to express one's taste and is a frequently used decorative element in European and American interior design. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, as people have gradually adapted to the new lifestyle of working from home, many have placed greater emphasis on having personalized and comfortable interior spaces.
In European and American interior design, wallpaper is often used to cover all the walls of a room, and even the ceiling. In contrast to its widespread use, wallpaper in Taiwanese interior design is more often used on feature walls to create a "feature wall": such as a TV wall, sofa back wall, or bedside wall, creating visual focal points and highlights in the space. Wallpaper is also a great solution for homes with uneven or rough walls.
Wallpaper comes in a wide variety of styles and materials, with prices varying greatly. Furthermore, wallpaper requires professional splicing and pasting skills, making replacement or removal more difficult than painting. It is recommended to assess your needs before purchasing, select suitable material properties (such as scratch and wear resistance, water resistance, etc.), and maintain it properly afterwards to maximize the design texture of wallpaper, which differs from paint.
Both curtains and wallpaper are large visual areas in a space. Therefore, if you have patterned wallpaper, it is recommended to choose plain or solid colors for the curtains. Avoid choosing curtains with overly complicated designs so that the curtains and wallpaper do not compete with each other and create a chaotic style. An overly complex design can also make a space feel oppressive!
With increasingly cramped living spaces in cities, beds are often placed right next to windows, and curtains are just beside the bed. In such cases, besides needing to block out light, there are a few other details that need to be considered:
1. Curtain size
Fabric curtains require a large amount of space for installation and hanging. If placed close to the bed, they can easily compress the beautiful curves of the fabric, sacrificing aesthetics. Honeycomb curtains, on the other hand, may leave dents and creases on the curtain surface due to a turn in sleep or an unconscious swinging motion.

2. Curtain light-blocking degree
People's sensitivity to light varies. Blackout zebra blinds are made by inserting black gauze into the fabric to enhance the light-blocking effect of the striped sections. The light-blocking effect is about 80 to 90%, which can effectively darken the room during the day.

3. Curtain cleaning should not be neglected.
Just like bed sheets need to be washed regularly, curtains also need to be cleaned periodically. The advantages of roller blinds and zebra blinds are that they are "not easy to accumulate dust and mites" and "easy to clean". Because the curtain surface is almost perpendicular to the ground, the area where dust can get stuck is greatly reduced. Regularly wipe them with a dry cloth or duster, or use a vacuum cleaner with a brush head to wipe and vacuum them. They will be clean immediately, and the chance of allergies will also decrease.
