📍What is a curtain box?
A "curtain box" is a space created above a window using interior woodwork; it's more like a lid than a box, allowing for...将Curtain tracks,The surrounding pipelines are hidden within, creating a neat and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

📍What types of curtain boxes are there?
Curtain boxes on the market can be broadly categorized into three types: external, semi-recessed, and recessed.
▶︎ External type (external cover type)
A wooden structure resembling a lid above the window is a more traditional approach. Because it protrudes directly from the wall, it offers little beyond storing curtain tracks and enhancing the overall aesthetics of the room, leading to a significant decrease in its adoption in recent years.

▶︎ Semi-embedded
The curtain box, extending downwards from the ceiling and combined with the beam-covering design, can conceal surrounding pipes and curtain tracks, creating a clean and comfortable visual effect.

▶︎ Embedded (hidden)
Instead of filling the entire ceiling, leaving a recessed space near the window, like embedding curtains in the ceiling, is a very beautiful approach!
This type of curtain box usually includesindirect lightingThe design enhances the overall home atmosphere; however, since the ceiling will inevitably be lower, it is recommended to have a certain amount of ceiling height before choosing an "embedded curtain box".

📍Suggested sizes for curtain boxes?
If space permits, it is recommended to leave at least 15cm for the depth of the box at the front and back of the groove. The depth of double-layer curtain boxes varies from 22 to 35cm, with 25cm being the most common.
Because each curtain style and combination method has different thickness and required installation space, a curtain box depth of 25cm is a more flexible and less restrictive wooden structure size that will allow for more flexibility in replacing curtain items in the future.
See below for details, which includes not only universal sizing across styles but also more detailed information on curtain box design.

Each shop has its own customary way of saying it.
My "depth" might be your "thickness," and your "height" might be his "depth."
These words are particularly prone to misunderstanding.
Be especially careful when communicating with the store!
▷ Curtain box depth (single layer curtains)
▶ ︎ Roller blinds, zebra blinds, Venetian blinds, honeycomb blinds: It is recommended to leave a 12cm-15cm allowance.
This suggested depth can accommodate all of MSBT's rigid curtains without making the space feel too cramped.
▶ ︎ Fabric curtains: For single-layer tri-fold curtains, it is recommended to allow at least 12cm of space; for single-layer serpentine curtains, it is recommended to allow at least 16cm of space.
▶ ︎ Vertical blinds: It is recommended to leave a margin of at least 23cm.
The curtain box depth of fabric sheer/vertical blinds should not be too small, so as not to compress the smooth curves of the fabric folds and thus affect the visual aesthetics.
▶ ︎ Double-layered curtains:For those who like a rich sense of layering,Refer to this comprehensive overview ☛ Recommended curtain box sizes for 10 types of double-layered curtains
▷ Curtain BoxWidth
It is recommended to leave at least 15cm of width on each side of the window. If there is enough space, you can extend it to the walls on both sides for a more consistent and aesthetically pleasing look!
The biggest taboo is absolute, absolute.Don't cut right up to the window.Especially when space is limited and it is necessary to...External curtain boxWhen making the decorations, make sure the curtain box is wider and larger than the window.
Please do not install the frame material directly into the concrete window opening, or restrict the area where curtains can be installed. Otherwise, gaps will be created on both sides that the curtains cannot cover, greatly diminishing the overall effect. 😭

▷ Height
It is recommended to leave at least 10cm of height.
The greater the distance, the more completely the curtain track hardware is concealed; combined with woodwork design elements such as beam cladding and openings, the functionality of hiding the wiring is also enhanced.

📍What do you need to know before installing a curtain box?
1. The curtain box is pre-installed by the carpenter.
Curtain companies do not construct or build curtain boxes! Instead, they typically install curtains based on the final condition of the curtain box and the surrounding environment.
You can confidently leave the curtain installation to MSBT, but for the woodwork, you still need to find a carpenter. This is very important!
2. During the decoration planning phase, consult in advance to select curtain styles and configurations.
Besides the most common single-layer curtains (fabric and sheer), there are actually many more styles and types of curtains, and there are many variations in how to layer them.
OnPre-decorationIt is recommended to consult with curtain companies and interior designers about suitable curtain styles and configurations, and to understand the thickness of various curtains and the corresponding curtain box size.
Otherwise, if the reserved space inside the box is insufficient,窗簾種類It would be a real shame if the selection was limited or if installation was impossible..
3. Wiring planning for the curtain box of motorized curtains
To installMotorized BlindsWhen asking the electrician to lay out the wiring, it is recommended to leave it in the curtain box, in the far left or far right corner on the indoor side, which is the biggest blind spot and not easily seen.

. - I like minimalist style:
Forgetting the curtain box design can enhance the fresh and clean feel, creating a lighter lifestyle!
. - Not limited by the size of the curtain box:
Unless you initially allocate enough space in the curtain box, you might find yourself unable to install your desired curtains when you replace them later, due to the size of the curtain box.
. - Saves on budget and construction hassle:
If your budget is limited, or if you didn't originally plan to install curtain boxes, it's recommended that you save this expense and invest in other decorating styles.
. - Regarding the enhancement of light-blocking effect:
It has a greater impact on "cloth curtains"!Because sunlight can easily refract through the folds in the sheer curtains between the upper curtain and the wall into the room, a curtain box can effectively block sunlight from entering through the top of the window if you prioritize blackout. As for other rigid curtains (roller blinds, zebra blinds, Venetian blinds, honeycomb blinds), as long as the upper track is installed flush against the wall or ceiling and there is sufficient extra space outside the frame for coverage, the blackout effect is almost the same as installing them inside a curtain box!
